FIFA Accuses UEFA of Spreading False Claims in Legal Dispute
The claim was made in a filing submitted Monday to the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, where FIFA challenged UEFA’s request for access to evidence and documents connected to the FFE project.
UEFA has accused FIFA President Gianni Infantino of “criminal mismanagement” and alleged that he sought to promote what it described as “a fraudulently off-market price” for his personal benefit through the FFE proposal.
FIFA rejected those allegations in its response, saying UEFA’s filing included “numerous false or misleading statements about FIFA and Infantino.”
“With no basis whatsoever, UEFA suggests that Mr Infantino sought to profit personally from the FFE proposal,” FIFA said, according to reports.
“UEFA’s suggestions that Mr Infantino violated any law or ethical principle are categorically without merit.”
FIFA also criticized UEFA’s demand for documents, calling it “farcically overbroad” and arguing that courts have previously dismissed comparable requests.
