CTDOT Announces New CTtransit Reduced Fare Structure Beginning October 1
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced an expanded and simplified CTtransit reduced fare structure beginning October 1, 2026. The changes will further reduce fares for youth, from the current 20% discount to a 50% discount. Additionally, a new online application is available for eligible customers to receive a reduced fare photo identification card.
Reduced Fare Categories Beginning October 1, 2026
- Youth: Customers aged 5 through 18 will receive a 50% reduced fare, and a new 31-day youth pass will be available for purchase.
- Seniors: Customers aged 65 and older will continue to receive a 50% reduced fare.
- Persons with disabilities: Eligible customers will continue to receive a 50% reduced fare.
“Public transportation connects people to jobs, health care, education, and opportunity,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto. “By establishing a consistent 50% discount, we are making CTtransit services across Connecticut easier to access and use.”
