Zelensky, Trump Address Future Peace Talks Over Phone
The two leaders reviewed the agenda their respective delegations are expected to tackle during bilateral discussions in Geneva on Thursday, as well as a broader trilateral summit involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia penciled in for early March.
Taking to X following the call, Zelensky outlined Kyiv's core ambition for the three-way meeting — and signaled that Washington is on board. The Ukrainian side expects the trilateral gathering to "create an opportunity to move talks to the leaders' level," he wrote, confirming that Trump backs the proposal.
Zelensky left no ambiguity about why elevating the talks matters, stating: "This is the only way to resolve all the complex and sensitive issues and finally end the war."
The call marks the latest in a series of high-level diplomatic exchanges as momentum builds around a potential framework to end one of Europe's most devastating conflicts in decades.
