Performances Shine at Russian Athletics Championships
(MENAFN) The 2025 PSB Russian Track and Field Championships came to a close on Sunday in the city of Kazan, following four days of intense athletic competition.
More than 700 participants from across the nation gathered at Central Stadium to take part in the event, which featured 44 contests spanning various track races and field disciplines.
The concluding day put the spotlight on the finals of the triple jump and hurdles events.
One of the event’s most remarkable moments was delivered by Fyodor Ivanov, who established a new Russian national record in the men’s 400-meter hurdles.
Ivanov finished the race in 47.94 seconds, surpassing the previous milestone of 48.05 seconds, which had been held by Denis Kudryavtsev since the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.
Another memorable highlight came from Vladimir Nikitin, who triumphed in the men’s 10,000-meter race with a time of 27 minutes and 48.30 seconds.
Nikitin, already known for his victories at the BRICS Games in the 5,000 meters and multiple national records, outperformed the 2008 record of 27:53.12, previously set by Sergei Ivanov.
During a press briefing, Russian Athletics President Petr Fradkov discussed educational seminars conducted alongside the event.
These sessions emphasized topics such as anti-doping procedures, athlete protection, and transparent administration.
The federation continues its efforts toward rejoining the international athletics community.
"We believe that in the near future, there may be some decisions to get some of our athletes restored in some way. Our task is to prepare athletes who are competitive on the international arena when that day comes," stated Fradkov.
