Trump Promises Aid for Ukraine Via NATO

(MENAFN) In a notable shift since his return to the White House, Donald Trump has committed to supplying new weaponry to Ukraine.

This marks the first occasion since his re-election that he has made such a pledge.

According to a new arrangement, the United States will sell arms to NATO allies, who will then deliver them to Kyiv to aid in its ongoing resistance against Russia’s invasion.

While the president avoided sharing many details regarding what he described as “billions of dollars’ worth of military equipment,” he offered a strong hint about the scale of support.

When questioned about whether the agreement includes Patriot air defense systems and interceptor missiles, Trump confirmed, “it’s everything.”

The president pointed out that one European nation possesses 17 Patriot units, and “a big portion” of these will soon be dispatched to Ukraine.

This is particularly significant for Ukraine, a vast nation that currently relies on a limited number of such systems—possibly as few as eight.

The influx of additional Patriots would markedly boost Kyiv’s capacity to shield itself from Russian ballistic and cruise missile threats.

During the announcement, Trump was joined by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Sitting beside the president, Rutte alluded to an even more comprehensive support initiative, stating, “It’s broader than Patriots.”
