High-ranking Iranian officer gets murdered by Israeli attack

(MENAFN) A high-ranking officer in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was killed during an Israeli missile attack on Tehran, Iranian officials confirmed on Tuesday.

According to official statements, Mohammad Taqi Yousefvand, the head of the Basij’s Intelligence Protection division, was killed on Monday during a series of Israeli missile strikes targeting multiple sites in the Iranian capital.

Yousefvand, originally from Iran’s western Lorestan province, is scheduled to be buried on Wednesday in Selseleh County, his hometown, as confirmed by IRGC leadership.

His death occurred just a day after Iran and Israel agreed to a ceasefire following nearly two weeks of intense conflict that began with a sudden Israeli offensive on June 13. The strikes hit various cities across Iran and resulted in the deaths of more than 400 individuals, including high-level military officials, nuclear experts, and numerous civilians, with Tehran being the hardest hit.

In response to the Israeli attacks, Iran’s military forces launched a wave of missile and drone strikes on several Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa.

The ceasefire was established following a final round of heavy bombardments by both nations early Tuesday.
