British Jet Remains in India After Emergency Landing

(MENAFN) A British F-35B Lightning II stealth aircraft has remained stationed at Thiruvananthapuram Airport in southern India since it made an emergency landing on Saturday.

As per local news outlets, British aerospace specialists are currently attending to the aircraft, which is still parked on the runway due to a “technical snag.”

This fighter jet, affiliated with the HMS Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group, was engaged in activities across the Indo-Pacific region following combined drills with the Indian Navy.

The F-35B, a combat aircraft created by Lockheed Martin, has the capability for vertical takeoff and landing, which makes it ideal for deployment from aircraft carriers.

According to a report by a news agency, the aircraft was forced to divert to Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday night due to insufficient fuel levels.

It executed an emergency touchdown after it encountered severe weather conditions, which stopped it from heading back to its carrier vessel.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) provided support by utilizing its radar systems and working closely with air traffic authorities to guarantee a secure landing, a news outlet noted.
