China Rushes to Evacuate Citizens from Israel
(MENAFN) China confirmed on Sunday that it will proceed with evacuating its citizens from Israel amid rising tensions after the United States conducted airstrikes on Iranian targets.
The Chinese Embassy in Israel highlighted that the conflict between Israel and Iran is intensifying, with missile attacks expanding over a broader area and casualties climbing steadily, according to media.
"The clearance process at land border crossings is slow, and the situation for connecting flights out of the country is becoming increasingly tense," the embassy stated.
So far, nearly 300 Chinese nationals have been evacuated in three groups through Egypt, most of whom have already returned home, the embassy reported.
Two more evacuation groups are scheduled to depart via the Be’er (Taba) border crossing on June 23 and 25, the embassy added.
Tensions in the region escalated further after US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that American forces had conducted "very successful" airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, fueling fears of an expanded conflict.
The clashes began on June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes targeting multiple Iranian military and nuclear sites, provoking retaliatory missile strikes from Tehran.
Israeli officials report at least 25 fatalities and hundreds wounded as a result of Iranian missile attacks since the fighting began.
On the Iranian side, the Health Ministry states that 430 people have died and more than 3,500 have been injured due to Israeli assaults.
