Russian Air Defenses Thwart Drone Attacks
For several months, Ukraine has carried out long-range drone operations penetrating deep into Russian territory.
These UAV missions frequently impact residential areas and civilian facilities.
The Russian administration has described these drone incidents as “terrorist attacks” and accuses Ukraine of deliberately aiming at non-combatants.
Sobyanin shared on his Telegram account that air defense personnel had neutralized a drone approaching Moscow.
He also mentioned that emergency responders had been dispatched to the site of the wreckage.
Roughly 40 minutes after this initial update, the mayor reported that two additional Ukrainian drones were eliminated as they neared the city.
Similar occurrences had already been reported by the mayor late Wednesday and early Thursday.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that, in total, ten drones were intercepted and eliminated throughout Moscow and its neighboring regions during the night.
On Friday, Governor Andrey Vorobyov revealed that five districts within the Moscow Region had been specifically targeted by these drone activities.
